I heard Elitmus has now a days stopped providing "Overall Percentile" and i can see why that happened... But before i proceed with this post... below are the links of my previous three posts, so that you can get the idea.... What i am talking about in this post... :D

So lets begin... But first thing first.
*** This Post is to help you in "Estimating Overall Percentile"... It "Doesn't Guarantee"that the "Estimation will be 100% accurate. I don't know any Solid Formula to calculate percentile, its all Observation/Experiance. So please avoid taking any "Load" faltu mai...!!!

Hmm.. having said that... here we go :)

A rough idea about Sectional Percentile:

Quant;

• 0 marks --- 40 percentile 
• Up-to 10 Marks(1 correct question) --- 50+ percentile 
• Up-to 20 Marks(2 correct question) --- 60+ percentile
• Up-to 30 Marks(3 correct question) --- 75+ percentile
• 30+ marks --- 80-85+ percentile 

See....this is why i Emphasis on "Attempting Less But with Accuracy" :)

Reasoining:

• Up-to 20 Marks(2 correct question) --- 40+ percentile
• Up-to 30 Marks(3 correct question) --- 50+ percentile
• Up-to 40 Marks(4 correct question) --- 65+ percentile
• Up-to 50 Marks(5 correct question) --- 80+ percentile
• 50+ Marks --- 85+ percentile

Verbal:

• Up-to 20 Marks(2 correct question) --- 20+ percentile
• Up-to 60 Marks(6 correct question) --- 60+ percentile
• Up-to 90 Marks(9 correct question) --- 85+ percentile
• Up-to 100 marks --- 90+ percentile
• 120+ marks --- 96+ percentile 

Now Calculating "Overall Percentile".... umm sorry... "Estimating Overall Percentile" :)

Some sectional percentile combination which will give you idea about estimating overall percentile.

• Quant 50 + Reasoning 85 + Verbal 95 == 90+ overall percentile 
• Quant 30 + Reasoning 70 + Verbal 95 == 80+ overall percentile 
• Quant 80 + Reasoning 80 + Verbal 90 == 95+ overall percentile 
• Quant 60 + Reasoning 80 + Verbal 90 == 85+ overall percentile

You can observe that "weightage of Sectional Score in Overall percentile" is as: Quant > Reasoning > Verbal

Now Please.... Don't start asking question like... "How come X after getting A,B,C sectional score has his/her percentile Greater than me when mine score is Nearly Equal/Equal/Greater than him/her????"

I think this is the REASON, why Elitmus has Stopped giving Over all Percentile. They got their "Algorithm" their "Method"...... Whatever it may be... and However it may work..... BUT its upto them....!!! All you guys can focus on is Scoring As high as Possible.
Hope this suffices your queries. I will encourage you guys to "Get those guys, who got their Overall Percentile(who gave elitmus when, elitmus used to provide overall percentile) and Post it in Comments"... so that you will have more Examples to compare your percentile. :)

Hi Vivek, As elitmus takes around 1 month to get you interview calls once you apply for the jobs, i would suggest you to give Elitmus exam somewhere Around April/May (your 8th Sem)... So that by the time your BE is complete you will get interview calls...so no waiting :)

So Prepare Well... i mean really well coz you got time.... and go for it :)

Hi Ashu... I can't figure out which section you are talking about... so i will just answer about all sections :)

- Out of 20 if you are attempting 5-6 in QUANT with accuracy YOU WILL get 90+ percentile.
- Out of 20 if you are attempting 5-6 in Reasoning with accuracy YOU WILL get 80+ percentile.
- Out of 20 if you are attempting 5-6 in Verbal with accuracy YOU WILL get 40+ percentile.

Hi Saba... mine percentile was nearly same... and i got call from 4-5 companies :)... So i hope you will get calls too... Generally it takes around 1 or 1 and half month from the day you get your Elitmus Score, to get response for the jobs you have applied... So jusss wait for a while

I mean on its(elitmus)website we see the event date and last apply date...we apply it... no calls watsoever.. thaaah... date is gone...and again a new company ... same cycle..

and... the process is same... Keep applying for jobs on elitmus... and After a month or so.... you will start getting interview calls...!!

And regarding "Effect of city/place"... i am not sure but.. if you are in Banglore.... your chances for getting calls get increased, coz you must have observed "Interview Location" has always(99%) "Banglore" as Location... but other cities keep varying from Company to Company.... And this is because nearly every company hiring from Elitmus is Banglore Based...!!

Hi ! Is Negative marking based on single section or entire 3 sections.
For instance, If I answer 1/4th questions wrong in each section, Negative marking starts or If I answer 1/4th of Total questions wrong, negative marking starts.

Abhinav... negative marking is Section wise.
Better you don't go down that road...(TukkaBaaji/Guessing... ain't gonna workout here) prepare Few topics.. but prepare them so strong that.. you don't miss any question appearing in elitmus.

Your overall Percentile is good, and in addition to that you have scored decent percentile in Quant and Reasoning... So i must say you stand good chance in getting calls... :)

And.... Start applying for jobs, on elitmus... you will start getting calls within a month...!!!

And regarding applying for jobs outside Elitmus, Its always good to "Mention your pHScore" in Resume... coz for sure... it will increase your weightage....AND there are some companies which consider pH Score as one of their selection criteria... So Bindaasss.... Put your score on Resume...

About recruitment from microsoft, adobe... Keep checking their websites... Coz Most Renowned Companies... hire final year students as INTERN... Which in turn...ends up in full time employment...

Whoooaa... Anurag 97.5 is Really good score(if you have scored well in all sections).... BUT if you still want to go for 99+ percentile.. You can try these things:
- Make sure you are scoring 99+ percentile in Verbal(i.e. 140+ score)
- Try to get 90+ percentile in both quant and reasoning
- Speed and Accuracy will be key in getting such high score so "Practice as much as you can"
- Do "Selective Study" i.e. Select certain topics from Quant which in total can get you a score of 90+ and get mastery in those section so that you don't miss a question from them in exam. Same for reasoning too... Preparing Everything... never gonna work... soooo.....Prepare Smartly... :)

Hi Sandy... Let me simplify this for you as per my understanding(though i am not the one deciding how percentile score is calculated at Elitmus):
- quant 20+ marks >> 50+ percentile
- reasoning 50+ marks >> 80+ percentile
- verbal 100+ marks >>. 90+ percentile

so ---->>"at overall score 170+ can get you 85+ percentile" and
----->> Marks in quant and reasoning has Higher VALUE then in verbal..!!!!

so those who get 95+ are the ones scoring good in Quant+Reasoning and Very Good in Verbal....
and those who are getting around 80+ are the ones scroing OK in all three
OR Good in Quant+Reasoing But BAD at verbal
OR Bad in quant+reasoing and Very Good in Verbal.

Hope you get little idea about percentile now :)

Any score above 85 percentile is good enough to get you some calls for job interview "ONLY IF" your sectional percentile is also good(i.e. throughout 65-70 percentile above)... Rest regarding giving another try...If you believe that you can do better than this...( more than 88 ) in next attempt..than... you can go for it.... :) as having score above 90 percentile(with throughout percentile of 65+ above) increases your chances.

(Remember...a score of 80-85 percentile THROUGHOUT is far better than a score of 90 above percentile with having any section with percentile less than 50)

Hi Tarun... It depends upon your potential. In general i must say 20 days are enough for good preparation. And if you are a quick learner and have good command over Apti then, 10 days is all you need.

All i can say is.... if you go for elitmus and Score good percentile... then, whether you get calls or not..... At least you will have pH score to mention in your resume... and i am sure it will give you an extra edge over other candidates in any interview or walk- in...

i have my arun sharma's for all the three sections. should i simply start with LOD-3(LEVEL OF DIFFICULTY-3) questions?

hello sir , how are you ? first of all i want to thank you very much for such great information . because of you i got excellent marks in my first attempt . i only made 1 mistake i got tempted in quants section and attempted too much questions .
sir i appeared for the elitmus exam on 22 december and my percentile for english and problem solving is quite good but my quant section is really bad . i got 89 %le in english and 93%le in problem solving but i got only 24 %le in quants . this was my first time and i m thinking of replying again but my query is, even if i reapply it will take some time for the exam and result to get declared again.
so , should i apply for jobs with my current score or should i not ? there are some companies where you will have to wait for interview call for 6 months if you don't get selected for interview . i m thinking if i don't get selected with my score then , i have to wait for 6 months . that's why i m really confused , should i or should i not apply for job ? sir please guide me .

Your selection and rejection is Different,..... Getting Interview calls through Elit Score is Different.. Don't Mix them..!!!!
Steps How it Works:
- You apply for the jobs on the basis of Your Score
- You get shortlisted for interview: You will be called for interview
Now here... If after attending the Interview... If you don't get selected... Than only You will face the situation of not applying in the respective company for 4,6.. months(depend upon company to company)
SO..... YOU, APPLYING FOR INTERVIEW GOT NOTHING TO DO WITH NOT GETTING CHANCE TO APPLY AGAIN FOR THE COMPANY... That arises only when YOU GET INTERVIEW CALL AND DON'T GET SELECTED...!!!

What's Good score.... Any score above 90 percentile(having Decent marks in all section) ... regarding companies giving interview calls.. its upto so many things.. which i have no idea.. BUT the Bottom Line is "Good PH score" and if you got "good academics"..... you Stand better chances..!!!

Estimating Overall Percentile

So lets begin now...

First of all if any one of you have given elitmus exam you very well know that its not that easy to score well.... Sooooooo How come i can help you??? I can not teach you tricks over here... BUT  i will share the Strategy to score 90+ in elitmus.

Trust me.... Juss follow the rules and... you wont be disappointed. :)

WHAT ARE BASIC RULES???

• Divide the time as: 45-50 minutes for Quant, 45-50 minutes for Reasoning and Last 25-30 Minutes for English(not even a single second Exrta for English)
• Start solving paper from either Quant or Reasoning as according to your preference and command over the subject/topics. 
• Most of you, will be tempted to start the paper from English coz its the easiest one, but trust me... That ain't gonna help you.
• Then go to the next section remaining among Quant and Reasoning
• And at last in Last 25-30 minutes go for English.

HOW TO SOLVE EACH SECTION???

• REASONING:
• Don't even look at the first questions... just turn the page and come to the last question i.e Data Interpretation. It will be a lengthy question BUT it will have FOUR questions associated with it. So TAKE YOUR TIME(even 15-20 minutes) and solve it. Don't get panicked that "I am taking too much time to solve this??? What about other questions??? Should i try other ones???" NO!!! FOCUS AND SOLVE THE QUESTIONS... AND ALL FOUR OF THEM.
• Now Dont look at 4th question until unless you are quite( i mean QUITE) good at Crypt-Arithmetic, you will juss waste your Precious time in analyzing it... for those who have no idea about What is Crypt-arithmetic??? "SEND+MORE=MONEY"  type questions, where you have to find the value of the Alphabets used in the given equations.
• After you have completed Data interpretation, Skip 4th one(Crypt-arithmetic) and come to 3rd question i.e. Data Sufficiency(ek se answer aa jayega...dono se aajegaa...dono se ni ayegaa type). There are four questions... among them if you try... will be easily able to solve 2-3 questions(20-25 minutes).
• Now you have Solved 4+2(atleast questions), what it means.... It means you have secured 50+ marks in Reasoning section i.e. 80+ Percentile in Reasoning. Quite easy na???? :)
• Don't waste time in looking at other questions in reasoning section..... mere buss ki to ni theee... baaki apki shradhaa!!!
• QUANTS:
• So till now you have completed 5+ question in Reasoning in 40-50 minutes... now its turn for Quant.
• Start from beginning:
• Read the question and decide weather you are able to solve it Right Now(coz its from the part in which you have stronghold, or from the topic which you have studied Previous Night :P) OR it will take some time you to solve it OR it is from the topic you have skipped/ no idea about the question. 
• If it is First case-->> SOLVE IT AT THE MOMENT(Dont worry about time even if you take 8-10 minutes to solve a single question as long as you are sure that you are solving  it Correctly)... and Tick mark the question.
• If it is Second case -->> Mark the circle on the question no. and move on to next question.... so that you can look at it in next round.
• And if it is Third case-->> Cross mark the question.. so that you do not waste(each second counts) your time in going through that again.
• By solving this way.... If you are able to solve 2-5 questions..... That is sufficient ... Trust me it is even more than juss sufficient... 
• If You have solved 2+ questions(atleast) your score will be 20+ i.e. 60+ Percentile in Quants. Quite easy na??? :) 
• CAUTION: Dont get Tempted to solve More then 8-10 questions(if you are too good in quants) else 5-7 questions are Enough.
• ENGLISH:
• Hmm... Done with quants and reasoning and time now remaining is around 25-30  minutes..... So get going... :)
• English is easiest part in elitmus. 
• Start from first question...... and when you reach Paragraph based questions, SELECT TWO FROM THE GIVEN THREE WHICH ARE SMALLER IN CONTENT.
• That's the only key in English part... choose wisely coz you wont have that much time to solve the third one, in case you manage to get some extra time go for the third Para too.
• So around 12-16 questions in will be enough.
• With 12+ questions you will have 100+ score i.e. 90+ or 93+ percentile in English section .

So All in all you have got now:

• 5+ question in quant
• 5+ in reasoning 
• 10+ in English

Means you got 80+ and 60+ and 90+ percentile SO YOUR OVERALL ELITMUS PERCENTILE IS 90+ AS PROMISED ;)

CAUTION: I repeat Don't get Tempted to solve More questions, coz negative marking will impact your percentile very badly.

Books and Tricks suggested for preparation(On Public Demand :P )

Quant: Abhijeet Guha for basics, and then go for Quantitative CAT (Arun Sharma). 
Reasoning: Logical Reasoning CAT(Arun Sharma)

Verbal: Do practice of Paragraphs and Sequence based question. For grammar "Which Feels Right Is Right :P "... And for word meaning/antonym/synonym.... Juss one day before exam "take a quick Scan of 200+ words".... If you are Lucky you might get one of them over there in test... and as you have scanned once, jss last night... you will be able to "Guess the right choice :D "

HOW IT WORKS???

Its quite simple......Following are the steps:

• Give ELITMUS exam.
• Get good percentile.
• Get calls for interview from companies.
• Crack the interview and get the job.

SCHEDULE, PATTERN AND SYLLABUS???

Elitmus organizes the exam in various cities all over INDIA. Go to ELITMUS WEBSITE register and then select the Date and Place where you want to attend the exam. After that make payment. Once payment is done you will receive your call letter 1-2 days prior to the date of exam on the email id you have provided during registration.

Paper contains three sections: 

• Quantitative aptitude(20 questions)
• Questions from Time and Distance, Work, Average, Percentage, Profit Loss, Geometry, Probability, Permutation and Combination, Number System, Algebra 
• Reasoning aptitude (20 questions)
• Divided in 5 parts: Data sufficiency, Crypt-arithmetic, Data interpretation, Logical deductions based relational questions(2).    
• English(20 questions) 
• 3 passage, 2 fill in the blanks, 2 find the proper sequence of sentence, 2 word meaning etc.

Time given to solve the whole paper 2 hours. 

Books for preparation: Quantitative CAT Arun Sharma.... Time ya kisi bhi CAT level ka matter le lo. Prepare from any CAT preparation book.
